About Me

Lukas Grumlik

Welcome to Big Bald UK!

Hi there! I’m Lukas, a dedicated domiciliary care worker based in the charming town of King’s Lynn, United Kingdom. My journey into caregiving began about four years ago when I was looking for a job after being home with my second-born child. Since then, it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. There’s nothing quite like seeing a smile on my clients’ faces during my visits – it’s those moments that make it all worthwhile.

My Passions

When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me immersed in the world of Linux, especially MX Linux. I initially decided to move away from Microsoft Windows due to security risks and because it was slowing down my ageing laptop. Upgrading to Windows 11 wasn’t an option for my laptop, so I looked for alternatives. MX Linux was the only distribution that could be installed without GRUB, which my Aspire laptop just couldn’t handle. The flexibility and power of Linux, along with the lightweight efficiency of MX Linux, have kept me hooked ever since. I love diving into the command line, creating scripts to automate everyday tasks, and exploring the endless customisation options it offers.

Creative Side

Aside from my tech interests, I also enjoy expressing my creativity through digital art. I focus on creating wallpapers that are MX Linux-specific due to the shortage of them available. All my designs are created using paint.net. I know it’s a Windows software, but I’m still getting used to GIMP and Krita. Despite the platform, I take pride in designing unique and visually appealing backgrounds that can enhance any desktop environment.

Unexplained Phenomena

Another one of my interests is exploring the unexplained phenomena around the world, with a particular focus on the UK. Although I don’t have any personal experiences with the unexplained – at least none that I know of – I find the topic incredibly fascinating. I believe we are not alone in the universe, and delving into local legends and mysterious occurrences is a captivating way to explore that possibility.

What You’ll Find Here

On this site, I share a mix of content that reflects my diverse interests:

  • Insights and Stories from Domiciliary Care: Tips, tricks, and personal experiences from my care-giving journey.
  • Linux Tutorials and Scripting: Guides, scripts, and tips for both beginners and seasoned Linux users.
  • Digital Art and Wallpapers: A showcase of my latest creations and behind-the-scenes looks at my design process.
  • Unexplained Phenomena: Stories and investigations into local legends and mysterious occurrences.

My Goal

My goal for bigbald.uk is to create an informative and fun website for people with similar interests. Whether you’re into Linux, digital art, or the unexplained, I hope you’ll find something here that piques your interest and keeps you coming back for more.

A Bit More About Me

I’m a big fan of ice hockey, especially the Czechia national ice hockey team. When it comes to the NHL, my favourite team is the Boston Bruins. I also have a love for tattoos and currently have three, with plans for at least a couple more. However, my biggest interest and source of joy will always be my two daughters and my loving wife.
